Behind Your Coffee

SEASON 1 > EPISODE 1

Andrej Godina: Coffee chain journey

“Among the commodities consumed every day, coffee is the one produced the furthest away.”

Farmers on plantations have a constant stream of activities to take care of all year round, such as pruning and fertilising. Once every 12 months, the beans are harvested in a process that can take anywhere between 4 and 5 months and involves an army of harvesters that collect the ripe cherries. The beans then travel to the countries of production where, through the roasting process, they are transformed chemically and physically into the world’s most consumed drink.
