International Coffee Day

The 1st October is International Coffee Day, a global celebration of coffee, flat whites, espresso drinks and various coffee drinks from around the world.

Worldwide we consume over 170 million bags of coffee a year, making it the most consumed beverage in the world after water.

There are about 50 coffee-producing countries in the world, located along the so-called “Coffee Belt”, the strip between the Tropic of Cancer in the north and the Tropic of Capricorn to the south, although half of this production is concentrated in the hands of two countries: Brazil (the world’s leading producer and exporter of coffee, growing over one-third of the world’s coffee) and Vietnam (the world’s leading Robusta producer with about 30 million bags).

Worldwide we consume over 170 million bags of coffee a year, making it the most consumed beverage in the world after water.
