What is keto coffee?

If you haven’t heard about Keto coffee before, that’s OK as it’s a recent addition to the coffee world. In short, it’s quite literally coffee with added fat. Now that might sound strange but in reality, it’s a delicious addition to any coffee lover’s list of favourite beverages.

It’s delicious because the additional ingredients are low-carb, high-fat foods like coconut oil, butter or ghee added, in order to boost its fat content, which are meant to help the body burn fat and lose weight faster and more efficiently.

The creator of Keto coffee, David Asprey, an entrepreneur and early advocate of the keto diet, got inspired about this delicious beverage during a trek in Tibet in 2004 where, exhausted from long walking, he came across a guest house where he was offered a cup of tea with yak butter.

It didn’t take long for David to start playing with the ingredients and make the jump to coffee, creating one of the most interesting beverages you can make on your De’Longhi coffee machine.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (8 oz) of freshly brewed coffee
  • 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • Add your own flavour twist by adding vanilla, sugar, cocoa powder or cinnamon or simply enjoy it plain.

Step 1

Brew a cup coffee using your favourite beans.

 

Step 2

Place the ingredients in a blender and blend them for about a minute.

 

Step 3

Complete the final result with your favourite add-ons.
