Long Black (Long Coffee)

A much needed boost in the afternoons for many of us, and one of the more commonly drank coffees in the UK.

hot

Ingredients

  • Coffee beans

Step 1

The long coffee is three times the length of an espresso coffee.

Many people think that long coffee has less caffeine than the espresso but it is a cliché. Long coffee has much more caffeine than espresso due to the longer extraction time. The longer the extraction process, the higher the caffeine content.

For manual coffee machines it is better to add hot water to the espresso, rather than drawing water through the grinds for too long, which can cause bitterness.

The taste will very much depend on your beans, and you will quickly find your favourites. But there is no better joy than discovering a new roastery blend you love, so we recommend you keep experimenting with new coffees.
